Sam Fender has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the MVT, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's grassroots live music spots.
He was given the prize on October 16 as his latest record his work was chosen as the outstanding release of the past year.
He has chosen to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the vital role local spots fulfilled in his initial steps.
"I would not have achieved what I am doing today if it weren't for all the performances I did around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are struggling."
From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these locations have permanently closed – roughly 16% of the whole industry in the UK.
Over the past year, major artists like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by including a modest fee to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.
He also took part, generating in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help 38 small stages across the UK.
The donation assisted venues that were confronting imminent closure due to issues arising from flooding, fires and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and neighbor objections.
Some locations were granted monetary aid in improving facilities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.
"The notion that revenue from concerts in large arenas backs the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has stated.
Fender is among several artists to donate his honor winnings to worthy causes.
When the band earned the award in 1996 for their record the album, frontman Jarvis Cocker declared that the act would give their cash to the organization War Child.
During 2002, musician she split her bounty among multiple good causes, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.
"I also contributed a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they required new equipment," Ms Dynamite explained to a publication.
Two years ago, they donated their funds to the youth organization that developed their band, alongside other local music groups.
Also winners that year M People contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was identified with the illness.
"Receiving the award was quite enough," stated vocalist the singer. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the honor. So our victory impacted somebody else's life."
Last week, the MVT announced it had protected a couple of small stages in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.
One venue in that area and The Croft in the city were acquired under the community ownership scheme, which is supported by the arts council and supporters who acquire "ownership units" in the buildings.
